Other dates...

8:30 AM  –  4:00 PM

Step into a week of creativity, exploration, and hands-on discovery.

This action-packed camp (for youth grades 6-8) blends visual art, creative writing, photography, and science, inviting students to explore how the natural world influences creativity. Inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso on view at the Museum of Art + Light, students will experiment, observe, and create across multiple disciplines.

Throughout the week, campers will:

  • Learn to make observational notes and ‘sketches’ as both biologists and artists do
  • Explore native prairie plants as inspiration for artistic work
  • Create artwork using watercolor, photography, and other media
  • Write and reflect through creative writing exercises to shape poems
  • Visit local cultural institutions including the Flint Hills Discovery Center and the Beach Museum of Art

Led by professional museum staff and teaching artists Traci Brimhall and Kelly Yarborough, this camp encourages curiosity, creative confidence, and enhances observation skills to make a deeper connection to both art and environment. Space is limited (capacity 25). Students are required to bring a sack lunch, snacks and beverages each day. MoA+L members receive 10% off (you must be logged into the website to receive your member discount).
