Impressions of Light Plein Air Watercolor Workshop
Spend a full day painting en plein air inspired by the landscapes and cityscapes of Dean Mitchell, whose work is on view throughout the Museum of Art + Light. After viewing select works in the galleries, participants will travel downtown to sketch and photograph Manhattan scenes before completing a finished watercolor. Designed for beginner and intermediate painters.
Most painting will take place at Switch Wicked Studio. Lunch is included. Supply list provided upon registration; participants bring their own materials.
About the instructor: Jim is a graduate of Wichita State University, former Art Director of the Educational Communication Center at Kansas State University in Manhattan Kansas, past president of the Kansas Watercolor Society and past member of the Southern and Oklahoma Watercolor Society. He has enjoyed a wonderfully-filled painting career both in the commercial world and professionally as a watercolorist/acrylic artist exhibiting in regional Midwest shows and competitions, teaching painting workshops and showing in galleries for many years. He has recently returned from Florida to Kansas after an 11-year teaching stint with several galleries, schools and businesses, as well as juror and watercolor/acrylic demonstrations. Over the years, he transitioned from graphic design/advertising to illustration & fine art. Rigg has been represented by galleries in Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Florida. Plein Air workshops are a challenging way to explore a subject with spontaneous applications and multiple solutions.
