Artist Led Gallery Talk with Rae Stern

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday July 26

4:00 PM  –  5:00 PM

Meet visiting artist Rae Stern (b.1981) for a short gallery talk to celebrate the opening of this special exhibition. Rae Stern’s practice employs digital tools in the manipulation of multiple media including ceramics, photography, paper, glass, and textiles and her work is concerned with the social and cultural effects of technology. Her most recent project ,“Afterimage," draws inspiration from her research of documents at the Truman Library Archives and her interest in exploring the layered relationship between landscape, memory, and belonging. Working between archive and imagination, Stern traveled to her homeland of Israel to revisit the landscapes referenced in these materials and rather than recreating the past, she sought to surface layered meanings embedded in the land. FREE with Museum admission.
